Energyworkers use Qi (pronounced “chee”), or Life Force Energy, to inspire healing and relaxation in their clients. The many forms of Energy Healing modalities base theories and techniques on modern and ancient systems. Some overlap in theory and execution while others are fairly unique. Forms of Energy Healing ArtsAttunement – this form of energywork is based on the theory that life originates in love. The Attunement practitioner will hold her hands over the client allowing the flow of life energy to start over the Endocrine System. Barbara Brennan Healing Science – a hands-on modality that works with the body’s aura and Qi incorporating color and sound healing. Bioenergy – a both hands-on and hands-off modality that integrates scanning of what is termed the “electrical circuitry system” to pinpoint energy blockages and inspire healing. CranioSacral Therapy – is a gentle hands on modality that targets the craniosacral system for balance. Roots in osteopathy modern CranioSacral Therapy stems from the teachings of John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M., at the Upledger Institute. Jin Shin Jyutsu – a Japanese healing art, in Jin Shin Jyutsu the practitioner lays her hands over energy pathways encouraging relaxation, improved circulation and harmonizing the body mind spirit connections. Polarity Therapy – developed by an osteopathic physician, chiropractor and naturopath, Randolph Stone, D.C., D.O., N.D., combined Western methods with energetic healing to form Polarity Therapy. A large portion of a polarity session uses Ayurvedic principles to rebalance the natural flow of energy in the body. Sessions last thirty to ninety minutes in length and includes pressure, rocking and gentle touch. Reiki – is a Japanese word meaning “universal life energy.” Reportedly it is based on an ancient Tibetan Buddhist teaching and was rediscovered in the mid-1800s. Reiki is used to balance and strengthen the client’s energy to promote healing in the body. Practitioners may hold the hands directly on the body or a few inches above the body. It can also be given long-distance, encouraged through a photograph of the intended recipient. Therapeutic Touch – developed by Dolores Kreiger, PhD., R.N., a professor emerita at the New York University’s Division of Nursing, and Dora Kunz, a metaphysician. This modality combines lying of hands on the body for energy transference, clearing of energy and assessment. Therapeutic Touch sessions last twenty to thirty minutes long. Zero Balancing – was developed by Fritz Smith, M.D.m, and osteopathic physician and acupuncturist. Zero Balancing is an adjunct modality to CranioSacral Therapy and uses a hands on touch to balance energy currents within bone, muscle and joints.
